February was a month of new beginnings, exciting activities, and joyful discoveries at Canterbury Creek Farm Preschool. From the arrival of adorable baby lambs to cultural celebrations and special visits from guest speakers, our students experienced a month filled with learning and laughter.
Baby Lambs Arrive
One of the most exciting events this month was welcoming three baby lambs to our farm family! On February 4th, Buttercup, one of our cherished sheep, had her second set of twins. The children helped name them Lily and Poppy, and these playful lambs quickly made themselves at home. Later in the month, on February 20th, Cocoa gave birth to a sweet little boy we named Puff. The children loved visiting the lambs, watching them explore their surroundings, and learning about how we care for animals on the farm.

Bollywood Dance with Parent Volunteer
We also had a special cultural experience thanks to one of our parent volunteers, who introduced our Young 5’s class to Bollywood dance. The children had a blast learning the lively moves and discovering the joy of dance from a different culture. It was a wonderful way to get active while expanding their understanding of the world.

Mitten Kids Dentistry Visit
On February 16th, Mitten Kids Dentistry visited our school to teach the children about dental health. Through an engaging story and hands-on activities, the children learned why brushing is important, how often to do it, and which foods help keep their teeth healthy. It was an informative visit that left everyone with bigger, brighter smiles.
Valentine’s Day Celebration
Valentine’s Day brought lots of excitement to the farm! The children exchanged Valentines with their friends, carefully delivering their cards into beautifully decorated bags. Thanks to our amazing parent volunteers, the day was filled with themed games, crafts, and, of course, a sweet treat to celebrate friendship and kindness.
Swim Safety with Goldfish Swim School
Staying safe around water is essential, and on February 18th, Goldfish Swim School came to teach the children about swim safety. Through interactive games and demonstrations, the kids learned important swimming techniques, how to wear a life vest properly, and how to stay safe near water. It was a fun, hands-on lesson that will help keep our students safe during swim season.

Cultures Week
We ended the month with our much-anticipated Cultures Week. Parents generously volunteered their time to share the traditions, foods, and stories of countries like Peru, Hawaii, Australia, China, the Dominican Republic, and more. The children loved exploring the songs, dances, and delicious treats from around the world. It was a beautiful way to celebrate diversity and nurture the children’s curiosity about different cultures.

As we head into March, we look forward to creating more special memories with our students. We are truly thankful for the incredible parents, volunteers, and community members who help make Canterbury such a vibrant and dynamic place to learn and grow. Here’s to another month filled with exploration, joy, and learning!
