Exciting news from Canterbury Creek Farm Preschool – we have six adorable new baby goats! Oreo, our Nigerian Dwarf goat, had twins named Chocolate and Chip. Nova, a Nubian goat, had triplets named Little Dipper, Big Dipper, and Eeyore. Stella, another Nubian, had one precious baby named Eclipse.
Did you know that baby goats are called kids? They are known for their playful and curious nature. Kids can start standing and walking just minutes after being born! They love to jump and climb, and their antics are sure to bring smiles to everyone at Canterbury Creek Farm Preschool.
Our Nigerian Dwarf kids, Chocolate and Chip, are small but full of energy. Nubians like Little Dipper, Big Dipper, and Eeyore, are known for their long floppy ears and friendly personalities. Baby goats are social animals, so they enjoy being with their mothers and other goats.
Goats have excellent coordination and balance, making them natural climbers. They also have unique rectangular pupils, which give them a wide field of vision to watch out for predators. Their playful behavior is not just for fun – it’s how they learn about their environment and develop social bonds.
At Canterbury Creek Farm Preschool, we offer a unique, hands-on learning experience where children can interact with animals and explore the natural world. Our preschoolers and families have enjoyed watching the baby goats each day during the drop-off/pick-up line. We keep the kids in the front “nursery” pasture until they are old enough to join the main pasture with the bigger animals. During the school day, students can pet, hold, and play with these cute little ones.
